Overview
A certification program is designed to identify and recognize individuals who meet a specified standard defining competence in a field. Certified workers, on average, are more competent than non-certified workers. Certified workers are more competent because they usually take additional training which is geared toward the particular certification requirements for their occupation.
emerit certification is voluntary. The emerit certification credential is awarded to candidates based solely on their achievement of successful pass results on the certification examinations and on them having met the specified experience requirements.
The certification examinations are built directly from the National Occupational Standards following generally accepted testing principles.
One frequently asked question is “Do I have to know how to perform everything in the standards even if I do not do them in my job?”
The answer is “Yes”. Occupational certification recognizes employees for having a broad range of knowledge and skills in a particular occupation. Your workplace policies may be different from the industry standards, but the candidate is still required to know and be able to perform the skills as outlined in the National Occupational Standards in order to complete certification and be recognized nationally.
