Individual recognition certificates can be achieved at various stages of career development. Depending on the occupation and level of experience, employees can choose to apply for one or more of the following three certifications:

Tourism Essentials Certificate

The Tourism Essentials Certificate is most useful in the pre-employment stage.  It can also be very beneficial for individuals who are starting a new career in tourism or for new Canadians or foreign-trained professionals planning on immigrating to Canada and working in the tourism industry.

Occupational Knowledge Certificate

The Occupation Knowledge Certificate is the recognition that an individual has mastered the knowledge requirements for the specific occupation. The individuals are tested against the standards for the occupation in the form of a multiple-choice exam.

Professional Certification

emerit Professional Certificate is the pinnacle recognition in the Canadian tourism industry. As compared to three other programs at the end of which candidates receive certificates, emerit Professional Certification grants you a professional designation once you have completed it.

Professional Designations

Depending on your occupation and level of experience, you can be awarded one or all of the following professional designations: the Tourism Certified Professional (TCP), the Tourism Certified Supervisor (TCS), and/or the Tourism Certified Manager (TCM) designation.
