Designed by National Occupational Standards

emerit training materials are developed and tested by tourism sector employees, employers and educators from across Canada. They are based on industry-defined occupational standards that are internationally recognized.

Educators use these standards as a basis for designing training curriculum. If you are an employer, you can use the standards to confirm that your training meets recognized standards for specific occupations or to conduct a training needs assessment for your team. If you are an employee, the standards will help you confirm that your skills meet the established standards for your occupation.

Designed to Test Competency

The key characteristic of all emerit training options is that fact that all training is competency based. Competence is defined as a group of skills required to perform occupation-specific tasks to standard. The focus of all emerit training options is shifted away from strictly theoretical knowledge and directed at practical occupation-specific tasks.
