The job of a Ski Lift Operator is critical to the success of any ski operation. With the explosive growth of the ski industry, the responsibilities of a Ski Lift Operator are becoming increasingly challenging. A Ski Lift Operator needs to exhibit professionalism and communicate effectively with guests, handle enquiries and concerns, follow resort guidelines on lost and found procedures, use radio equipment and operate on-hill communications systems, operate off-road vehicles, observe safety regulations, respond to incidents requiring first aid, and perform other responsibilities.

Training Resources:

The Ski Resort Operational Area National Occupational Standards is a manual that discusses the safety documents that supervisors and trainers need to know and review with ski lift operators for the requirements of the job. As a supervisor and trainer, you need to be familiar with the regulations, policies and procedures that affect you and your hill.
